Gosau - largest ski region in OÖ
The family ski area with a view!
The wonderfully idyllic town of Gosau is located in Upper Austria's Salzkammergut region and impresses with great views to the spiky Gosau Ridge, its renowned Dachstein Glacier and versatile range of winter sports on offer in the family ski area of Dachstein West. Situated at 700 metres altitude, this pretty town guarantees family-friendly skiing fun and snow-assuredness right through to spring.
The Gosau section of the Dachstein West ski area comprises the Hornspitz, along with Brumsiland and the more demanding Zwieselalm. The Zwieselalm doesn’t just entice boarders and carvers with its spectacular 360 degree views to the Dachstein Glacier, Lake Gosau and the most beautiful peaks from the Feuerkogel to Hochkönig, but is beguiles lots of winter hikers, fans of snow-shoes and those who love sun loungers too. Not least on account of its cosy huts, which offer perfect sun terraces, local specialities and delicacies from regional cuisine!
TO THE SKI AREA IN COMFORT: ZWIESELALM

Use the Panorama Jet on Zwieselalm, which provides ideal access to the Dachstein West ski area. You’ll find the best car parking options here, and you can get to the cable cars without having to go a long way!
The legendary Brumsiland is especially popular with little ones, with its fun skiing bumblebee ‘Brumsi’. Those first carving turns are much better when you’re having lots of fun, that’s why there are fairy-tale figures and boardercross in Brumsiland, instead of tedious gates and wishy-washy beginner’s pistes. Up and coming talented skiers also get to let off steam on the magic carpet, on the bobsled run and in the fun park. And according to one of these little skiers, Brumsiland has "really lovely" ski instructors ;))).

Along with the Dachstein West ski area, in Gosau, the best looked after cross-country ski slopes, an indoor pool, horse-drawn carriage rides, toboggan runs, curling and lots of exciting activities provide more fun for you and your family. Or, you could take part in a traditional ‘Stammtisch’ meet-up with the locals, and have an authentic, cosy, relaxing, family-friendly winter holiday!
The wide range of accommodation on offer is also ideal for families. Along with elegant sport hotels there are also lots of good-value, cosy, hospitable private lodgings in Gosau. Find more information about accommodation and holidays at Dachstein Salzkammergut Tourist Office.
