A really unique experience is a horse-drawn sleigh ride in winter. Wrapped up in a warm blanket and looking up at the stars, it’s easy to relax. A special experience for big and small guests. Sleigh rides are possible in Gosau, Russbach, Annaberg-Lungötz, Bad Goisern, St. Martin and Abtenau.
Children and adults all enjoy tobogganing. The best conditions can be found at the natural toboggan run in Lungötz and the toboggan run in the Lammertal valley (heading from the Lämmerhof in the direction of Aualm), or the toboggan run in Abtenau. There are also scenic natural toboggan runs in Russbach and Gosau.
Cross-country skiing is possible in Abtenau, Annaberg, Bad Goisern, Gosau, as well as in Obertraun and St. Martin. Enjoy this wonderful sport and benefit from the harmonious exercise in the open air. All skiers will love it here – whatever their level of ability.
You can really get to know snowshoe hiking in Gosau, Russbach and Annaberg. Far from civilisation you can hike past old farms, frozen streams and through snow-covered forests. On a snowshoe hike you can enjoy the unspoilt countryside at its best.
Walking in winter is particularly spectacular. A winter walk will let you relax and forget everyday life. This kind of excursion is possible in Gosau, Obertraun and Hallstatt.
For some time in the Dachstein West region, there have been about 30 different geocaches on the pistes and access points, waiting to be discovered.
You can ice skate in Bad Goisern, Obertraun, Annaberg-Lungötz, St. Martin or Abtenau. Glide on your skates over the ice and enjoy a good time.
Ice climbing in Bad Goisern will push everyone to their limits and ensure an icy adventure. The ice-falls are well secured.
Traditional curling is possible in Gosau, Russbach, Annaberg and also in Hallstatt, Bad Goisern and Obertraun. This winter sport is easy to learn and combines team spirit and fun.
Ice diving in Hallstatt is a truly unique experience. A unique underwater world rewards divers for their icy effort. You will submerge in a beautiful, silent world, protected by a thick layer of ice.
The Gosau indoor swimming pool is the only indoor pool in the region and offers fun and recreation with a sports pool with massage nozzles. In addition, there is a sauna, steam room and solarium available for guests. The pool is open in summer and in winter.
The Aqua Salza in nearby Golling offers water fans a sports and multi-purpose pool, a children’s pool, a whirlpool bath, a large four-seasons pool and a salt water pool. In addition, there is a sauna and spa area. With a valid Dachstein West ski pass you will receive a 10% reduction.
The Eurothermen Resort in Bad Ischl stands for health and well-being thanks to the power of salt. The salt is present in the various salt water pools and is also visible in the design of the entire Salzkammergut thermal spa.
