Russbach’s Hornbahn takes you conveniently and effortlessly up to the 1450m Hornspitz, where numerous hiking routes, ranging from easy and suitable for children’s buggies, to multi-day tours, begin.

uring the hikes you get to enjoy the breath-taking mountain panorama, featuring the Dachstein glacier, Gosaukamm ridge and the Tennengebirge mountain range. The bright yellow Ameisenexpress takes you through slightly hilly alpine terrain to the Edtalmhütte, where you can re-stock your energy levels with a traditional snack. Tip: You can reach the hut on the pushchairable trail No. 46 or on the natural path No. 47c in about 1.25 hours.

In Bruno's Mountain WorldBruno's mountain realm are lots of hiking adventures, learn and play stations at the Hornspitz in Dachstein West. Emma, the giant ant, always looks forward to your visit, the alpine flower garden conceals alpine treasures, while the swing forest and Bruno’s giant slide invite you to run around, and Almwasserl provides the requisite cool refreshment to splash around in. Parents can relax on the cosy panorama loungers or enjoy coffee and cake on the sun terrace at the Gipfeltreff.


Quite easy on the mountain by Hornbahn Russbach

Bergbahnen Russbach, also affectionately called the ‘Hornbahn’ by locals, is located in the centre of the Dachstein West hiking region in the Tennengau. The valley station is just 6 minutes walk from Russbach town centre. 

The 8 person cable car in Salzburg brings you comfortable on the Hornspitz at 1,450 m - the perfect starting point for numerous hikes and walks. We do carry for free children's buggies and dogs.

At the valley station of the Hornbahn Russbach a large free parking area and the bus stop of the Postbus No. 470 is located.

Fun & Adventure in Bruno's mountain realm

In Bruno's mountain realm in Salzburg there are a lot to discover for kids and parents at numerous play and learning stations. When looking through the geological panorama you explore the surrounding mountains and the Alpine flower garden for alpine plants.

Kids can let off steam on climbing towers, swings forest and in the fossil sand caste and giant ant Emma - the best friend of Bruno Bear - looks forward to your visit. The 'Almwasser' provides the necessary refreshment when splashing around, while you learn interesting facts about newts and moors.


Excursion train 'Ameisenexpress'

The excursion train 'Ameisenexpress' starts at the Hornbahn mountain station  and the 20-minute journey takes you to the cozy hut 'Edtalmhütte'.

During the journey you get to enjoy the impressive mountain panorama and observe the animals on the alpine pastures. The outward and return journeys on the Hornbahn Russbach match one another.

 

 



Tip: Russbacher water park

The Water and Adventure Park in the centre of Russbach provides the requisite cooling down after a strenuous hike. Kayaking for children, a stream to play at, reservoir, jumping tower, water tower and Kneipp facilities provide undiluted fun in the water for all the family.

The natural swimming pool in this area is a highlight. This summery oasis is naturally cleansed by plants and fed with fresh, wild flowing water from Randobach.
