Hiking tips & tour suggestions:

Note: This is just a small selection of the wide range of hiking opportunities!

Rottenhofhütte - Zwieselalmhöhe / Aussichtsberg

Route No. 50 / No. 49
Duration: approx. 3 hours

From the parking Korreit in Annaberg you hike about 1 hour on the forest to Rottenhofhütte. From here follow the trail no. 50 to Zwieselalmhütte hut and from there hike to Gablonzerhütte / Breininghütte to Gosau. After a 15-minute-walk you get along trail no. 49 to the Sonnenalm and can hike from here to the Zwieselalmhöhe/Aussichtsberg and enjoy the 360 degree panoramic view!

Tip: You should stop off at the hut Rottenhofhütte and pamper with homemade cheeses from own production!

Stuhlalm - Austriaweg - Gablonzerhütte

Route No. 630/ Austriaweg 611

Duration: 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Annaberg to Stuhlalm
Duration: 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Stuhlalm to Gablonzerhütte

The shortest way to the Stuhlalm from where you can hike on the Austriaweg (trail no. 611) to the Mahalm or to the Zwieselm, leads across the village Annaberg - tip: use the parking "Pommer" / Astauwinkel! From here the trail no. 630 leads across the Almstraße to the Stuhlalm.

From the Stuhlalm you can hike on the Austriaweg (trail no. 611) to Gosau. You cross the hills of the 'Großen' and 'Kleinen' Donnerkogel and hike to the Törlecksattel from where you walk downhill to the huts Gablonzerhütte and Zwieselalm.

Stuhlalm (1467m) / Theodor Körnerhütte (1454m)

Route No. 54
Duration: approx. 3 hours

With the car you cross the church in Annaberg and via  Kopfberg you drive to Astauwinkel (tip: stop off opportunity in the 'Salzburger Dolomitenhof!). Via the 'Austaubauer' (farmer) you drive to the farmer Pommerbauer (last parking for cars). From the parking you go forward on foot. You hike toward the AlmArtWeg trail (beautiful wooden art work of local carvers line the way) to the Stuhlalm and form here to the Theodor Körnerhütte (catering at both huts from June to mid-October).

Variation for return journey: Back to Annaberg along the same route as the ascent or via the Austriaweg trail to the Zwieselalm hut or towards the Loseggalm and Mahdalm huts – and from here, down to Annaberg.

Mahdalm (1480m) and Loseggalm (1460m)

Route No. 57
Duration: approx. 3 hours

Walk along the main road to the settlement of Mandlhof. From here, turn left and after the bridge, turn right immediately and carry on until you reach Ponn (last car park). Then continue along the Güterweg trail until you reach the Mahdalm-Dürmoos crossing.
Walk past the high wall through the forest up to the Mahdalm hut. Turn off to the Loseggalm hut shortly before reaching the Mahdalm hut.

From here, you can enjoy magnificent all-round views of the mountains of the Salzburg region (Ankogel, Sonnblick, Grossglockner, Kitzsteinhorn, Grossvenediger, Hochkönig, Tennengebirge, Hagengebirge, Hoher Göll, Untersberg, Osterhorn chain).

Continue on via the Sulzkaralm hut (40 mins) to the Hofpürglhütte (2 hrs) – then descend down to Filzmoos or continue on to the Dachsteinsüdwandhütte or Adamekhütte huts or climb up to the Bischofsmütze peak (only recommended with a mountain guide if not familiar with the area!)
