Gosau am Dachstein

Gosau is a real gem of untouched nature in the Dachstein Salzkammergut. Yet the town in the Dachstein valley is nothing like your typical market town because the valley stretches over 14 kilometres to the Gosausee lakes, where you can admire the view of the Dachstein glacier. Moutain lovers, cyclists, skiers and families will find everything they need to enjoy their holiday here, in the heart of this natural paradise.

The lofty peaks and numerous alpine pastures are easy to reach in summer and winter. The valley itself is dotted with pretty houses and guesthouses, and in between there is space, room and air for relaxation and outdoor action.

Hallstatt

Hallstatt is the archaeological heart of this World Heritage region and is home to the world’s oldest salt mine. The historic town centre radiates a unique flair with its promenade situated directly on the shores of Lake Hallstatt.

Visitors from all over the world are drawn to Hallstatt to visit the unique historic sites: The houses lined up like swallows’ nests between the lake and the mountain, the high valley with its salt mine, the magnificent views and cultural landmarks that tell a story that goes back thousands of years, and the Echerntal valley that offers a nature experience.

Hallstatt is also well worth a visit in the cold season! The snow-covered roofs and glistening lake transform the town into a romantic winter wonderland.

Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee

Surrounded by mountain panoramas, situated directly on the beautiful Lake Hallstatt, Bad Goisern enchants with its charming village centre, flower-adorned houses, magnificent landscape and many idyllic places. With its excellent infrastructure, Bad Goisern is a popular holiday resort for visitors seeking relaxation, as a climatic health resort and as a starting point for exploring the surrounding nature of the UNESCO World Heritage region Hallstatt Dachstein/Salzkammergut. The Hand.Werk.Haus and numerous traditional and musical events are also well worth a visit.

Obertraun

Some of the best things come in small packages – one of these is the World Heritage village of Obertraun, situated directly on the shores of Lake Hallstatt, with lots of nature all around. The village is located in a valley along the mouth of the Traun River, surrounded by high mountains. The most striking landmark is the Dachstein Krippenstein, which watches over the valley at an altitude of 2,100 m and is the perfect destination for outdoor activities. Starting from Obertraun, you can quickly and easily reach the Dachstein caves and hike to stunning sites of natural beauty such as the Koppenwinkl Lake or the Koppenbrüller Cave. The cool lake waters and skiing slopes are also not far away!
