In January and February 2026, we are offering two exclusive ski touring camps for beginners. Whether you want to take your first steps in this exciting discipline or take your technique to a new level - our camps are perfectly tailored to your needs. And best of all: both take place on our popular Atomic Backland course!

For all participants of the ski touring camps, the Checkpoint in Russbach, Dachstein West offers an exclusive hire discount of 20% on all ski touring equipment. Take this opportunity to start your adventure fully equipped!

Please note: Registration possible until 12 noon the day before! Ski touring camps take place with a minimum of 5 participants! Max. of participants: 15 pers.

Skitouring-Camps for beginners:

1 to 4pm*
*We recommend a material check between noon - 1 pm
  • Explanation of different functions of ski touring equipment

  • Learning how to walk uphill with the right step technique and gliding and pole use to save energy

  • Joint ascent along the ski touring route and correct walking in terrain of varying steepness

  • Getting to grips with the correct way of walking in the terrain (in deep snow) with learning and improving hairpin bends

  • Arrival at the summit with skinning and preparation for the descent with changing boots and bindings

  • Joint descent to the valley station

  • Teaching basic knowledge and training in ski touring behaviour on the piste and off-piste during ascent and descent

Good to know:

What do you need to bring with you? If you don't have your own ski touring equipment, you can hire it for the day at the Atomic Backland Touring Centre for -20% (advance booking required!).

  • Functioning ski touring equipment with skis, poles, skins and boots

  • Suitable ski touring clothing with gloves and headband (possibly a change of clothing)

  • Crash helmet with ski goggles or sunglasses and rucksack

  • Safety equipment with avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe

  • Filled drinking bottle
