From the first stone to the first journey: a look behind the scenes - Part I

There has been a lot going on in our ski resort for several weeks now: machines, construction workers and helicopters are working hand in hand to build a new lift and modern stations in time for the coming winter season. With our #constructiondiary, we want to give you regular glimpses behind the scenes – with photos, videos and exciting stories straight from the construction site.

From the initial preparations to special moments and major milestones: here you can follow step by step how an idea becomes reality!

First insights

The first few days on the construction site were marked by a spirit of optimism. There wasn't much to see yet, but preparations were already in full swing. Machines arrived, measurements were taken, earth was removed and space was created. It was a special moment for us: finally, a long-planned project was taking shape. From now on, week by week, we will be able to see how the new facility is developing.

The last pull – a piece of history goes

A special milestone: the rope of the old lift has been removed. For decades, it has safely carried countless guests up and down the mountain – now it has made way for the future. A moment that evokes both melancholy and anticipation. Because as much as this step marks the end of an era, it also marks the beginning of a new one. Soon, the modern lift will begin operating in the same location.

Help from above

Not all materials can be transported by lorries or excavators – sometimes help from the air is needed. Helicopters help us to transport building materials and even concrete to hard-to-reach places or to transport them more quickly. Precise manoeuvres, perfect coordination and a lot of teamwork were required to unload everything safely. For us, it was a spectacular sight – and another sign of how extraordinary working in alpine terrain is.

New developments with a view

While construction work on the new mountain station Aussichtsberg continues, we are already getting a taste of what makes this place so special: the panorama. In the midst of the construction site, the view sweeps over to the peaks of the Dachstein and deep into the Salzkammergut.

Step by step, a modern facility is growing here, combining functionality with a unique location. For everyone who arrives here in the future, it will not only be the new infrastructure that impresses – but also the view, which is already showing itself from its most beautiful side during the construction phase.

The progress made on the combined valley station, located in the middle of the mountain, is now particularly evident. The building is taking shape, walls are going up, structures are becoming visible.

At the same time, work on the slopes is progressing rapidly: earthworks, modelling and initial contours are already showing where skiers will be carving their turns next winter. It is impressive to see how nature, technology and craftsmanship are coming together up here to create a new experience for our guests.

Every week brings new impressions that show just how diverse and exciting a construction project in an alpine location can be. Between large machines, precise craftsmanship and breathtaking mountain scenery, the facility is gradually developing into a highlight of the coming winter season.

We will continue to keep you up to date on a weekly basis on our social media channels in our #constructiondiary – with photos, videos and exciting insights directly from the construction site. And there will be another update for you here too!
