Skitouring Charity Dachstein West

On 9 March 2024, the 3rd Ski Touring Charity Event Dachstein West will take place from 07 am to 5 pm under the motto "Collect altitude metres for a good cause!".

All participants in the Dachstein West ski touring charity have been invited to complete as many ski touring ascents or metres in altitude as possible. At least one full ascent should be completed. The ascent can be done either with touring skis or snowshoes.

For professional and amateur ski tourers

The event is aimed at both professional and amateur ski tourers in the individual classification or as a team of two, and children are also welcome. For each ascent of 610 metres in altitude, € 6.10 will be donated to a good cause, and donations will also be collected from the participants. The resulting amount will be donated to Licht ins Dunkel.

A great supporting programme with music, workshops and valuable raffle prizes awaits all participants and spectators: At the Ski Touring Charity Dachstein West, it's not just the fastest who win, but everyone has the chance to win a great prize.

The registration fee includes a goodie bag, a food voucher, a starter gift and a finisher's medal. Snowshoe hikers can use the railway for the descent free of charge.

Licht ins Dunkel

The donations from this year's Dachstein West Ski Tour Charity will be donated to the Licht ins Dunkel initiative.

Participants can join and leave the tour at any time between 07:00 and 17:00, but at least one full ascent should be completed.

The ascent is along the Atomic Backland ski tour route on the Russbacher Hornspitz. At 3.6 kilometers in length and 630 vertical meters, this uncomplicated piste ski tour is also suitable for beginners.

Review: 3rd Ski Touring Charity Event Dachstein West

On March 9, 2024, the 3rd Ski Touring Charity took place in Russbach, Dachstein West, where athletes climbed the Hornspitz on touring skis or snowshoes. Over 610 meters of altitude were covered and the participants collected altitude meters for Licht ins Dunkel. In total, over 1.4 million vertical meters were covered and a donation of around 15,000 euros was collected for the ORF aid project Licht ins Dunkel.

At the mass start at 07:00, over 100 participants left the start area, and over the course of the day, almost 530 participants took to the track in sunny weather.

Over the course of the day, the event area at the valley station developed into a hotspot where participants prepared for the next ascent and recharged their batteries. The musical backdrop, top catering and an hourly raffle of prizes rounded off the event.

The winner of the day, Richard Bosic, managed 13 ascents despite the very warm temperatures, while Hanna Hampel topped the women's rankings with an impressive 11 ascents.
