In the middle of fantastic nature, an almost limitless selection of hiking possibilities for the most diverse demands awaits you. The Dachstein, Gosaukamm, Bischofsmütze and Tennengebirge mountains form the perfect backdrop for unforgettable hiking experiences.
Hike the entire alpine pasture area or explore the Gosaukamm with a hike around it. Enjoy the famous panoramic view of the Lake Gosausee and the Dachstein massif or as far as the Hohe Tauern, Tennengebirge, Watzmann and Hohen Göll.
Sure-footed mountaineers enjoy summit victories on the Donnerkogel.
Donnerkogelbahn Annaberg
The modern and comfortable 8-seater Donnerkogel cable car takes you up to the Riedlkopf at approx. 1,475 m - starting point for numerous and varied hikes in the Dachstein West hiking area.
Numerous alpine huts, such as the Rottenhofhütte, Stuhlalm, Theodor-Körner Hütte or Mahdalm, tempt you with delicacies from their own production.
Klettersteig Donnerkogel
Ready for an adventure? On the Intersport via ferrata Donnerkogel in the Dachstein West hiking region, enthusiastic mountain adventurers experience climbing fun at the highest level.
You climb up the airy ridge on the Donnerkogel in four stages on the Via Ferrata using steel ropes and stepping pins. The ultimate adrenaline kick awaits you on the 40-metre-long sky ladder, the highlight of every climbing tour.
Austriaweg & SalzAlpenSteig
To walk around the entire Gosaukamm, you can use the popular hiking trail "Austriaweg". The Donnerkogelbahn Annaberg takes you up to 1,475 m above sea level. From there you reach the Austriaweg (trail no. 611) via Zwieselalm (trail no. 50) and hike to the cosy Stuhlalm or Theodor-Körner Hütte, which invite you to a comfortable rest. Return via trail no. 54 into the Astauwinkeltal valley to the valley station of the Donnerkogel cable car. Or you can continue to the Hofpürglhütte and hike around the entire Gosaukamm.
At the top of the mountain you will reach the long-distance hiking trail "SalzAlpenSteig", which leads to Gosau via the Herrenweg. Alternatively, you can descend via the SalzAlpenTour to Russbach (trail no. 46).
Note: Depending on your physical condition and hiking tour, a hike on the "Austriaweg" and "Salzalpensteig" trail can take several hours! Plan an overnight stay in a mountain/shelter hut for longer tours.
